Private Omakase in Melbourne CBD: Book Out the Counter
Ten Seats, Yours

Private Omakase in Melbourne CBD: Book Out the Counter

Most private dining in the CBD means a room off a larger restaurant with a set menu and a minimum spend. Rōnin is simpler. The whole restaurant is ten seats at one counter, so a group of ten has the room, the chef and the night to themselves. There is no separate private menu because the omakase is already cooked for one sitting at a time.

This page covers booking the counter for a group, and what to do if your group is bigger than ten.

BUYOUT

Booking All Ten Seats

Reserve ten seats on one date through OpenTable and the counter is yours. Seats for the following month open on the 20th of each month at 8pm, and a ten seat buyout is easiest to secure in the first days after release. Each guest is A$195, paid at booking. For a buyout on a date that is not showing online, email info@roninomakase.com.

LARGER GROUPS

Functions Beyond the Counter

Rōnin takes group bookings and private events of up to 50 guests by arrangement. These are planned by email at info@roninomakase.com rather than online, because the format changes with the size of the group. Tell us the date, the number and the occasion and we will come back with what is possible.

THE NIGHT

What a Group Gets

About ten Korean courses over roughly two hours, cooked in front of the group by Chef Liam Lee, introduced one at a time. The room is small enough for one conversation. The Korean omakase and the chef’s table page describe the cooking and the counter.

LIMITS

What a Private Booking Does Not Change

The courses cannot be altered for individual dietaries, even for a buyout, because one chef cooks one sequence. BYO is not available. Service starts on time. The dietary page has the detail your guests should read first.

OCCASIONS

Birthdays, Client Dinners, Farewells

Ten seats suits a birthday, a milestone, a small client dinner or a team farewell. Birthdays and anniversaries at the counter covers the celebration side.
